The service principal name TERMSRV cannot be registered

Problem:

The following error message appears under Remote Desktop Services in the Server Manager on a Windows 2008 terminal server joined in a UCS domain:

Event ID: 1067
The terminal server cannot register 'TERMSRV' Service Principal Name to be used for server authentication. The following error occured: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

Solution:

Windows Remote Desktop Services attempts to register the service principal name “TERMSERV” to a Microsoft Active Directory domain controller every time the computer is started. However, Samba when configured as a NT domain controller does not offer this function in a UCS domain, which is why the attempt fails and the message shown above appears.

It should still be possible to log on to the terminal server (locally and via RDP clients) irrespective of this error message.
